The bridge on the blog's tittle is a medieval bridge in Puente la Reina, Navarra, Spain. The bridge, from the XI century, crosses the Arga River, it is about 110 meters long and 4 meters wide. It was probably built to take the Way of St. James across the river.
I have visited this bridge several times, and I have always thought it one of the most beautiful medieval bridges around. I thought it would be nice to use an image of something I like.
There were other options, of course. The so called roman bridge in Cangas de Onis, Asturias, Spain, is, in reality, another medieval bridge along an old roman path, so most likely it replaced an earlier crossing.

It is incredible when you think that those bridges have stood for close to a thousand years
